Dr. Laura Elena Tepelus, the founding member & Managing Director of MediSense Clinic, got her DHA license as the first Occupational Medicine Specialist in UAE, in January 2005.

With over 20 years of experience in Occupational Medicine, establishing Medi Sense Clinic represents the culmination of her professional journey in the UAE and Middle East.
The clinic was created as a collaborative effort alongside one of her earliest employers, symbolizing her commitment to giving back to the industry that shaped her career. Today, Medi Sense Clinic stands as a purpose-driven initiative aimed at helping individuals stay healthy and enabling industries to thrive through a physically and mentally healthy workforce.
From Romania to UAE: A Journey of Excellence
Born as an only child in a supportive family, Dr. Tepelus was raised with strong values and determination to become a doctor. While initially drawn to surgery, her desire to treat the whole body led her to discover Occupational Medicine—a specialty requiring comprehensive knowledge across all medical specialties with a focus on disease prevention.
Understanding that healthy adults spend most of their active time at work, she was attracted to preventing diseases and helping workforces maintain optimal health. After completing her General Medicine Doctor qualification in Romania and a Master’s Degree in Clinical and Occupational Toxicology (2007), she made history as the first Occupational Medicine Specialist licensed in the UAE in 2005.
Professional Milestones and International Recognition
Dr. Tepelus’ career is distinguished by pioneering contributions to occupational medicine in the Middle East:
- Established the first Occupational Medicine Department at Cedars Jebel Ali International Hospital
- Led the Infection Control Department from 2005 to 2011
- Advanced to Medical Director and later Executive Director at Gulf Healthcare International
- Played a key role in developing corporate health guidelines with EHS in JAFZA
- Served as Vice-President of the Occupational Medicine Society UAE – EMA (2019)
